Brittany Hanson
Albany, Oregon
I currently teach community-level mending classes in Albany and Corvallis and am a full-time homeschool educator to two not-so-little-anymore wildlings. While my formal education is in environmental toxicology and science communication, I’ve always had a passion for creating with various fibers and have acquired quite a few related skills, but the one I’m most passionate about combines them all: mending!
What initially started as an exploration of repair techniques to keep my kiddos clothed, turned into a 10+ year journey researching, experimenting, and expanding my understanding of mending throughout history and across the globe (so far as books would allow anyway). In my practice, I love to fuse science and art together and to find new ways to prevent waste by using resources that already exist. I am continuously learning new things and am so excited to be able to share these skills and knowledge with others in the community.
