MENDING WEEK TO WEEK: BEGINNING CLOTHING REPAIR

WITH BRITTANY HANSON & ALEXANDER ENRIQUEZ

Four Mondays in September and October, 2026:

September 14th, 21st, 28th, and October 5th

5:30 - 8:30pm, each class day

Want to learn to repair your clothes, make your favorite pieces last longer, or embellish your wardrobe with personal touches? Taught over four evenings, this class will cover mending both woven and knit fabrics by hand and machine. Techniques covered will include patching and reinforcing fabric using a few foundational stitches, basic embroidery, Sashiko, and a couple of versatile darning approaches.

Class Details

Age Requirement: this class is for adults and youth 12-17 if their parent or guardian is also registered for the class.​


Location: Wade Hardware (400 SW 2nd St)


Students bring: students might consider bringing a small mix of items in need of a bit of love (socks, jeans, t-shirts, etc.) to begin mending and to troubleshoot repair approaches with instructors in class. While all supplies will be provided in class, you are welcome to bring any specific thread, yarn, or fabric you'd like to use on your mending project(s). Additionally, if you have a sewing machine that you'd like to practice using or would like help troubleshooting, please bring it along for week 2! As well, lighting in the classroom can be dim, students may wish to bring a headlamp for detail work.


Tuition: $180

Materials fee: $25

Accessibility note: students will need some hand dexterity to hold and manipulate pins and needles.
