WOODCARVING BASICS: CARROTS!
WITH ROSE HOLDORF
Two sessions available (3 hours each):
Session 1: Sunday, July 6th, 9 am - 12 pm
Session 2: Wednesday, July 9th, 5:30 - 8:30 pm
Learn the basics of woodcarving using a simple carving knife and a few foundational knife-holding grips to feel safe confidence while working with your own two hands! In this 3 hour class, students will have time to practice safe and ergonomic carving techniques to whittle wooden carrots from basswood scraps, but leave class with the skills to carve beets, radishes, strawberries, broccoli, and other tiny fruits and vegetables you might recognize from the farmers market! Plus, there will be time to turn your hand-carved wooden root into a necklace or ornament, and also learn just a bit about using traditional non-toxic milk paint to adorn with color our tiny wooden trinkets. What fun!
