WOODCARVING ANIMALS

WITH ROSE HOLDORF

Thursday evenings in February:

February 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th, 2026

5:30 - 8:30 pm, each class day

Learn the basics of woodcarving and knife skills in this multi-week exploration of hand carved animals, like horses, chickens, pigs, and all kinds of fauna! Students will learn a foundation of carving grips while carving simple forms, then build off those techniques over the class, tackling more complicated figures as the class progresses. We'll discuss traditions of animal carving from around the world, use traditional milk paint to add color to the carvings, and take time to learn how to maintain and sharpen the tools of the trade.

This class is open to beginning and experienced woodworkers alike but relies on strenuous hand work. Rose will offer breaks and favorite hand stretches to help the process feel approachable.
