WILLOW BASKET WEAVING: SHOPPING BASKET

This class is not currently bring offered.


In this class, students will be guided through the process of weaving their own willow shopping basket, suitable for the farmers market, grocery store, or harvesting vegetables from your own garden! Techniques will include the construction of a round or oval base, a variety of weaves, including French randing, English randing, waling, twining, and a 4 rod behind a 2 rod border, or even a track border. Students will finish the class by adding a sturdy handle. Some techniques can be modified to suit the learner, beginners and advanced weavers are all welcome.


Age Requirement: This class is for adults 18+.

Class Details

Students bring: hand pruners, sharp fixed blade knife, bodkin, large towel, large plastic bag. 


Accessibility note: willow basketry can be a challenge for hands. Many of the operations require repetitive movements, hand strength, and coordination.
