LEARN TO TIMBER FRAME: BUILD YOUR OWN SAW HORSES

WITH AUTUMN PETERSON AND SCOTT MCCLURE

Friday to Sunday, June 5th to 7th, 2026:

Friday, June 5th, 5:30 - 8:30pm

Saturday, June 6th, 9:00am - 4:00pm

Sunday, June 7th, 9:00am - 4:00pm

This class will teach the fundamentals of timber framing as you build a set of timber-framed sawhorses to take home! Over this three day class, we’ll explore design, square rule layout, joinery considerations, tool selection, sharpening, cutting tips & tricks, sourcing materials and how to use your body to move heavy things safely and with others. Using only hand tools, we will lay out and cut the joinery for a pair of timber-framed sawhorses, simple enough to make in a weekend yet covering all the basics you need to start a bigger project.

The timber sizes we will be using are 6x6 and 4x6 in smaller pieces, so we won’t be lifting too much weight. Some hand strength is required, as we will be using hand saws and chisels, but we can accommodate special physical limitations if needed to make this a fun, educational experience for everyone. Please reach out if you have special requests, or to let us know how we can help you make this a great experience for you.
