PLACE BASED PIGMENTS: MAKING PAINT WITH MINERALS

WITH HOSANNA WHITE

Sunday, March 15th, 2026

9:00am - 4:00pm

Earth pigments are a viable and potent medium. Unlike the mass-produced art supplies we buy, the essence of a place and the history of the landscape is imbued in the pigment’s color and what we create with them. During our full day class, we will learn how to ethically forage, process, and prepare local minerals into fine pigment, as well as a variety of natural binders for fine arts applications and common paint projects around the house. We will make a few pans of watercolor paint and paintings for students to take home.
