INTRODUCTION TO BLADESMITHING (BLACKSMITH'S KNIFE)

Students in this class will be introduced to the art of traditional blacksmithing, by using various tools and techniques to forge a basic blacksmith’s knife. Students will learn how to manage and maintain the proper heating temperatures, how to hammer, bend, twist, grind and shape high carbon steel to make a functional blade. Both traditional and modern tools will be used in the process.


Age Requirement: this class is for adults and youth 12 and above. Please note: ages 12-17 must have a parent or guardian also registered for the class to participate.​

Class Details

Students bring: a pair of safety glasses, non-synthetic work gloves, long sleeves (wool or cotton is best), and close-toed shoes.
