Shannon Welsh
Portland, Oregon

Shannon Welsh has spent years working with flax, from growing it in the field to breaking, scutching, and hackling straw into fiber with countless uses, from hand-twisted cordage to woven linen cloth. Based in Oregon, she co-founded Fibrevolution in 2016, and more recently Coast Fibers, working to bring flax and linen production back to the Pacific Northwest. She loves crafts that reconnect people with where their materials actually come from, and she's glad to share that hands-on curiosity with Tarweed students.
