What are plants and how do they contribute to our environments, foods, and air we breathe? Take a deep dive into the way plants and flowers work, including a walking tour of the plant kingdom as it applies to our local environments and ecosystems. Priscilla will cover bryophytes, tracheophytes, lycophytes, the fern clade, seed plants and flowering plants in this botanical class that demystifies the basics of plant life that surrounds us every day.

After a plant walk and overview of the plant kingdom, students will dissect flowers and explore the basic parts and the flower-fruit-seed sequence through the food plants we eat and garden vegetables. Examples will be provided for dissection, but participants are also welcome to bring something they want to know more about.

This hands-on class is great for anyone who wishes they paid more attention in school biology class, wants a refresher on some basic plant principles, or may be looking for a deeper appreciation for all the plant kingdom provides.

Age Requirement: This class is for adults and youth 10-17 if a parent or guardian is also registered for the class.
